Was held on August 15, 2009 from 8AM-11AM
What a great Turnout we had on Saturday, "We gave out hundreds of Backpacks" to local familes in our local community. We had members of our "Fritay Foundation" at our event telling each family about our foundation and how we are rasing money to send local kids in our community to college.
This is a great program that the "Fritay Foundation" is offering to our local children.

To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicants must:
Must be of Haitian descent
Have plans to enroll full time in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in South Florida in the upcoming academic year
Recent high school graduate or GED student receipt (graduation date must be less than 2 years
Maintained at least a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale
Demonstrate proven leadership ability through extracurricular activities, sports, and/or community service
Demonstrate a strong financial need
Provide a detailed description of challenges the applicant has overcome
Submit a 1000 word essay describing what you bring back to the Haitian community after graduation

Fritay Restaurant & Fritay Foundation is an organization that raises money to give back to the children in the local community go to college.
The "Fritay" Foundation was started as a way to help reach out to the children in the local community that would not other-wise be able to attend college.
The Fritay Restaurant realized by hearing the local community vocally state through media outlets "TV and local Newspapers" that this was desperately needed.
It became clear to the owners and management of "Fritay Restaurant" what their future endeavors were. To help raise money through their internal sales from the customers that are participating customers at their restaurant. Many customers are eager to help once they hear about how this program is going to help assist the kids in the local community attend college in the future.
One customer stated "Wow, its about time someone stepped up in the area to actually help kids that have no way to pay for college.
It's hard to realize but its a fact that their are so many children that do not even have a chance because their start was broken from the begining. Many children nowadays are from single-parent homes. This program will be able to assist families or parents that can barley pay their monthly bills and still be able to see their child go to college.
Their will be future efforts to raise money but at this time we are informing our customers about the program and the benefits that come into our restaurant.
